I always took it as a metaphor for just generally shaking things up.
Very astute response. Recently, one has become more aware of what may lurk beneath the deceptively superficial surface of pop lyrics in general. One has discovered, the pop music industry, like professional sports, serves an overarching social agenda of directing human energy in desired directions.
