Saturday Matinee: Homecoming

“Homecoming” was originally aired on Showtime in 2005 as part of their “Masters of Horror” series which featured hour-long films by notable genre directors like John Carpenter, Don Coscarelli, Tobe Hooper, Dario Argento and David Cronenberg. Joe Dante, the director of Homecoming, previously demonstrated his horror chops with Piranha, The Howling, and Gremlins. He proved to be equally adept at satire with Gremlins 2, and for his Masters of Horror film mixed equal portions of horror and dark comedy. Giving away too much of the plot would reveal spoilers, but if you’re in the mood for a macabre anti-war parable which also serves as a biting satire of beltway politics, definitely check out Homecoming.

About Luther Blissett

"Luther Blissett" is a multi-use name, an "open reputation" informally adopted and shared by hundreds of artists and social activists all over Europe since Summer 1994. For reasons that remain unknown, the name was borrowed from a notable association football player who played for A.C. Milan, Watford F.C. and England in the 1980s.
